Life’s continuation: repro-tech, biogenetic affinity, and racial capitalism

Abstract This paper examines the affinity ties of biological and familial whiteness in ART as evident 2014 Illinois Northern District Court case Cramblett v. Midwest Sperm Bank —where a white mother filed wrongful birth suit sought legal compensation for loss perceived genetic similarity giving to ‘black’ child via donor insemination. Applying critical race studies engaging its surrounding media, considers what can tell us about loss— it is related notions value property within an overarching system racial capitalism. how race, value, inter-articulated through biogenetic relations organization family; these ideas travel investments life —and continuation— form (for some); this broader operations structural racism role biomedicine (and law) operations.
